The winner of this year Irish Evo Challenge will get a supported drive on selected rounds of the 2010 Irish Tarmac Championship in a James Foley Rallysport prepared Group N Lancer X, it has been announced.

The car will be endorsed by Mitsubishi Motors Ireland and will therefore appear in 'works colours' and be run under the 'JFR [James Foley Rallysport] Mitsubishi Team Ireland' banner.

This year the Evo Challenge in Ireland will run under a revised format, with six events split into nine rounds - the two day rallies providing a double-points scoring opportunity for competitors, who will count their best six results. Once again, all events will be on asphalt.

In another change meanwhile, the series will make its first trip north of the border for the Ulster Rally - and, with this event also representing a round of the UK Evo Challenge, this will be the first time ever that the two Evo Challenges have competed together.

To further spice things up, series organisers have said they will present a 'Nations Cup' to the most successful of the two countries.

"Everything is set for a promising year ahead," said Evolution Challenge manager Simon Slade. "Following a successful first season [of the Irish Evo Challenge in 2008] we hope that the prizes on offer, coupled with the high-profile status and reputation the series has already achieved, will attract competitors - even in these difficult economic times."

The calendar for the 2009 Irish Evo Challenge is as follows:
