2008 Citroen C2R2 Cup Champion Jason Pritchard is all set to return to the British Rally Championship as the twenty-year-old Welsh driver aims to defend his title, beginning with this weekends Bulldog International Rally of Wales.

But it will not be easy as Pritchard faces some tough competition this year, and, after upgrading his title winning Citroen to C2R2Max specifications the MSA British Rally Elite member will be anxious to get some seat time in the newer, more powerful variant of the rapid hot hatch. And joining Jason in the North Road Garage and Competition Car Insurance backed C2R2Max for 2009 will be fellow Welshman, 22-year-old Andrew Edwards.

"I'm really excited about the season ahead," Pritchard said. "Whilst I've been working flat out preparing the C2 I've also had time to think about which areas I can improve in and we have a very specific objective for the year ahead.

"I'm also really looking forward to having Andrew calling the notes for me. We don't live too far apart and he has a lot of experience already, so it should be a really strong team that we have."

Whilst the pair will contest the entire MSA British Rally Championship their hopes of contesting a selection of other European events depends on whether the pair can source additional budget. The recent theft of Pritchard's Subaru Impreza N11 is the contributing factor towards this problem but the theft has strengthened the young rally driver's determination to put in a strong showing in 2009.

The Bulldog International Rally of Wales is based in Llangollen, with a central service area in Bala. Featuring some of the classic Mid Wales stages such as Dyfnant, Dyfi and Gartheniog this brand new event to the British Rally Championship calendar is the perfect way to begin the new season.
