MG's Gwyndaf Evans and F1 pundit Tony Jardine will be campaigning Group N MG ZRs in November's Wales Rally GB, and according to Gwyndaf the emphasis is on having fun on the three-day event.

Last Friday Gwyndaf was present at the second assessment day of the MG Rally Scholarship where one of ten MG ZR rally drivers for next year was chosen. MG also used the day to announce its Wales Rally GB bid, which sees both Gwyndaf and Tony compete in the world championship round in Group N MG ZRs.

"I'm looking forward to it immensely actually, we've decided we are going to have a lot of fun, that will be the biggest emphasis for me on the rally, fun," said Gwyndaf at the launch.

After campaigning the Super 1600 ZR in the British Rally Championship this year, it's the Group N ZR that Gwyndaf will drive in Wales. "We've opted to go for the Group N car - there's a lot of reasons for that," explained Gwyndaf. "Mainly it's to promote the Group N ZR and also to get the scholarship on board so people can realise what can be done, even at world championship level, in a Group N car which is basically the prize for the scholarship competition. It's got a lot of nice angles to it, and of course I'll be up against Tony Jardine." [he says laughing...]

Last year Jardine saw off former CART and F1 driver Mark Blundell, but Gwyndaf obviously doesn't fear the threat of the F1 pundit. Gwyndaf should be the faster then? "Well I hope so..." Gwyndaf replied to with a smile on his face. "That'll be the objective anyway. Ultimately we want to have fun."
