Drivers who finished first, second and third last year are set to do battle once again as entries rapidly fill up for the Specsavers Christmas Stages Rally to be held at Croft Circuit near Darlington on Sunday 28th December 2003.

MonsterMob Ducati superbike team boss Paul Bird will be defending the title he won last year in his new Hyundai Accent WRC but he'll face strong opposition from runner up in 2002 John Bogie [Metro 6R4] and third placed Tony Bardy in his rapid Nissan Sunny GTI-R.

With just a week to go until closing date, sixty crews have so far applied for entries for the Northallerton AC event and with a total of eighty permitted starters, it looks as if a capacity field will once again be contesting the 40 stage mile tarmac rally at the North Yorkshire track.

Tarmac rally ace Neil Colman [Nissan Sunny GTI-R], Rallycrosser Dave Bellerby [Vauxhall Nova] and former winner Charlie Payne [Mitsubishi] have all entered and along with the likes of event sponsor David Stockton [Subaru], Phil Gallagher [6R4] and Mark Bird [Hyundai WRC], it will certainly be a competitive event.
