Hankook has confirmed that they will support 205 Challenge graduate Philip Mcvay as part of its three-car entry in the Wales Rally GB.

Mcvay and co-driver Nick Cadwallader will be driving a Group N Subaru Impreza on the event having replaced their Peugeot 205 as they move up the rallying ladder.

Paul Crowley, marketing manger with Hankook Motorsports said he was delighted to be able to give one of the Hankook 205 Challenge regulars the opportunity to compete at the highest level. The tyre company, which has its UK headquarters in Daventry, has been title sponsor for the 205 Challenge this year and is now looking to expand its motorsport presence.

Building on the success of the 205 Challenge, Hankook has now joined forces with Warwick-based Silverline Motorsport to offer a dedicated motorsport service for rallying and racing in the UK, a service being launched at Wales Rally GB.

"We are now involved in motorsports from grass roots levels through to the World Rally Championship and by supporting Philip and Nick we can demonstrate our commitment to a huge motorsport audience," said Crowley.

Mcvay will join drivers Dorian Rees and Andy Gwynne in the Hankook Motorsports team when the event gets underway in Cardiff on Thursday September 15.

For Mcvay and Cadwallader competing in Wales Rally GB is a tremendous opportunity for the pair and they are looking forward to competing against the cream of the world's drivers.

"It is a dream come true," said Mcvay, who only started rallying this year. "We can't wait for the start and are delighted to have the support of Hankook Motorsports and to be driving in the same team as established drivers Dorian Rees and Andy Gwynne."
