Rally stars Kris Meeke and Guy Wilks are to go head-to-head at the Croft circuit this weekend when the pair take part in the 2008 SG Petch Rallycross Superprix.

The duo will take part in a special race at the wheel of new RX150 buggies, which will run in a one-make championship alongside the Rallycross Open Championship in 2009.

A total of 14 RX150's will start the preview event, which also features 2007 British Champion Ollie O'Donovan, Junior Rallycross competitor Jess Gwynne and Jess's grandfather - Bill Gwynne.

"What a fabulous way to spend a Sunday!" Meeke said. "It's going to be first class action. Guy and I remain good friends, and keep in regular contact, but as soon as the helmet is on, we will both be up for a good race.

"It will be interesting for me to go head-to-head on a Rallycross track, rather than studying the timesheets at the end of a stage! There will be some other quick drivers there too, but the beauty of the RX150's is that they are all perfectly matched and give the drivers a terrific buzz. I am really looking forward to this."

Each RX150 is identical with drivers only allowed to make adjustments to suspension settings and tyre pressures. This ensures that the racing is kept close and costs low. A control tyre will be used in the category and drivers will be allowed one set of tyres per race meeting - with one spare front and one spare rear to allow for punctures.
