Peter Hickman lived up to his billing as one of the pre-race favourites at this year’s MCE Ulster Grand Prix as he topped the times in three classes on Wednesday, setting the fastest overall lap at 132.453mph.

The Smiths BMW rider claimed pole for the Dundrod 150 Superbike race on Thursday before raising the tempo later in the day in the combined UGP Superbike and Superstock session, setting the only 132mph lap to edge out Bruce Anstey on the Padgetts Honda RC213V-S by 1.1 seconds.

Manx rider Conor Cummins finished third fastest on the Padgetts Honda Fireblade ahead of Michael Dunlop, who upped his pace from 128mph earlier in the day to 131.472mph on the Bennetts Suzuki.

Dean Harrison (Silicone Engineering Kawasaki) Dan Kneen on the Tyco BMW and William Dunlop (Yamaha) were the top six.

Hickman also led the way in the Superstock session at 131.771mph ahead of Kneen (130.005mph) and Harrison (129.806mph) to complete a practice hat-trick, with the 30-year-old narrowly taking provisional pole in the Supersport class on the Trooper Beer Smiths Triumph by just 0.084s from New Zealand’s Anstey.

Bradford man Harrison and William Dunlop completed the top four in a hotly contested 40-minute session at Dundrod.
