Trelawny had to settle for the aggregate bonus point from a disappointing defeat following a last heat decider in their Premier League match away to Somerset on Friday evening. Heat leaders Chris Harris, Pavel Ondrasik and Matej Zagar scored well but lacked support from the second strings and reserves.

The four lower order riders managed only nine points between them but the JAG Tigers were still only two points down going into the final heat. Home star Mark Lemon made a fine start, however, and retained the lead from Harris and Ondrasik to secure Somerset's slender success.

Trelawny continue their hectic end-of-season programme with a visit to Newport on Sunday afternoon (2.30pm). The Damerell's Pitbulls are also in action on Sunday when they complete their away fixtures with a Conference Trophy match at Buxton (3pm).

Scorers:

Somerset
Mark Lemon 11, Matt Read 8, Mario Jirout 5, Graeme Gordon 8, Glenn Cunningham 7, Tommy Allen 0, Rob Finlow 7

Trelawny
Matej Zagar 9, Steve Masters 2, Pavel Ondrasik 12, Richard Wolff 3, Chris Harris 14, Malcolm Holloway 2, Tom Brown 2
