Bookings for Speedway on Ice have started with a bang as nearly 20% of available seats have already been reserved after only four days on sale. Speedway fans and the general public alike are booking to see both the Viking Invasion and the King of the Rink as speedway racing returns to Hull's Ice Arena on Sunday 2 November after a ten year break.

However, there has been some confusion in people's minds about the relationship between the promoters Hull Vikings Speedway and the organisers of American ice racing events. To clarify this, Hull Vikings have issued the following statement:

"Speedway on Ice at the Hull Arena is a stand-alone event comprising two matches - The Viking Invasion at 3pm and The King Of The Rink at 7:30pm, both on Sunday 2 November. It is not a part of any series or championship arranged by any other promoter."

"We are pleased to confirm that the American company ICE (International Championship Events) has come forward to assist us with tyre technology and race organisation know-how. This assistance will give the public the best possible standard of ice-racing ensuring they will experience all the thrills they are anticipating so strongly."

"In addition, ICE will invite the top four riders in our King Of The Rink event to participate in their race series to be held in the USA in January and February 2004, the final event of which takes place in Las Vegas for a purse of $10,000. Hull Vikings welcome this assistance and sponsorship from ICE and their Chief Executive, Gary Densford."
