The 28th Annual World Championship ICE Speedway Series kicks off this winter at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, NJ on January 2nd. From there the world's top speedway ice racers will do battle in hockey arenas throughout America. Among those cities will be Las Vegas, Nevada on February 6th & 7th for the Inaugural World Championship Open.

The Vegas event, to be held at the Orleans Arena, will offer the largest purse in series history at $25,000. The winner in the Nitro ICE Speedway Bike Division will receive a very cool $5,000 for his efforts.

Among many others, racers expected to compete in this year's World Championship Title chase are Defending ICE World Champion James Mann from Bolton, England; former U.S. National ICE Speedway Champion Ronny Kemp from Cary, NC; Bill "Iceman" Hermant from Sparks, NV and Shawn "Hurricane" Hurley from Loveland, CO to name just a few
