With Christmas rapidly approaching and speedway seeming a million miles away a present, the activities being dealt with by the Carlos Villar Support Fund committe for the paralysed Berwick Bandit's star are woring at full speed to keep fund raising going as a fine rate right through the closed season. So far it has produced a fine result.

At the latest committee meeting on Wednesday night it was revealed that banked to date is the excellent sum (especially as much fundraising has had to be outwith the season) of ?11,834.53.

The planned-for auction will be scheduled for mid to late February... probably 21st, and pre auction sealed bids will be able to be made via www.berwickbandits.co.uk where a full list of the expected 100 plus items up for auction will soon be listed. Items include so far include Jack Young autograph, Tommy Miller autograph, the bike won by the late Wayne Brown at the 1980 National League Riders Championship. Plus many many many other highly collectable items.

At Berwick's Black and Gold Club, Shielfield Park on the night of December 9th, Gary Havelock is the special guest when top rock and roll band Rue and the Rockets play live. Tickets ?10 available from Jean Foster, Yvonne Bebbington and Taffy's Time Machine, Marygate, Berwick upon Tweed. It is expected that Carlos will be allowed to make the trip to this event and be present in person!

The big event itself, the Carlos Benefit Speedway meeting will be early March with what is looking very likely to be the most incredible line up for a meeting ever seen ay any Berwick track in 36 years of racing in the Borders! Details released as soon as possible. A Carlos Villar benefit badge will be produced very soon.
