Weymouth chairman Brian White has stressed his delight at the fact the club looks set to be welcomed into the Conference League. Conference League co-ordinator Peter Morrish stressed in last week's Speedway Star that he feels Weymouth's application to join speedway's third tier would be 'rubberstamped' by the BSPA in January.

And White this week admitted: "It was great to read Peter's comments because we've enjoyed running speedway again at Weymouth. It has been hard work, but we believe we've set a solid platform to go on and be successful members of the Conference. I hope we are accepted and if we are I promise we will do our utmost to uphold the standards expected of a Conference club."

White added: "Weymouth Football Club, who are our landlords, are fully behind us and want us to be a success. I have met with Terras chairman lan Ridley and he wants both clubs to go from strength to strength in tandem. The two clubs have a very positive attitude towards the future and being accepted into the Conference League set-up would be a big step in the right direction for the Wildcats."

Weymouth stage their presentation night, Christmas party and disco all rolled into one at Swansons Restaurant in the town tomorrow (Friday, November 28) when their rider of the year will be announced. It means the weekly Friday night training school at Radipole Lane is cancelled. The next one will take place on December 5.
