Sixteen year old Benjamin Barker signed on the dotted line to become a full asset of Oxford Speedway at a packed fans Forum held at Oxford Stadium on Friday.

Barker, who was a sensation for the Oxford Silver Machine Academy last year, was on many of the Premier League club's shopping list and his signing for Oxford is a clear indication that Nigel Wagstaff is planning for the long term.

"With the continued support of our Academy Director Pete Chapman I am sure that Ben will progress rapidly over the coming years", he commented. There was no team news as far as the Elite League side released last night although the position was clarified, Wagstaff continued: "There are several things in the melting pot at the moment but there is no cause for concern".

One possible name in the frame is Ryan Fisher who could switch to Oxford from Coventry.. Fisher has been frozen out of the Bees' plans after they signed Chris Harris and Wagstaff is a big admirer of the Californian youngster. He said: "We're in talks and the outcome really depends on Ryan's demands, but things are moving forward and we'll see what develops."
