Oxford Promoter Nigel Wagstaff today announced the news that the Silver Machine's #1, Greg Hancock, will miss tonight's match at Purfleet against the A F Stocktaking Hammers in the second leg of their Knockout Cup tie.

Hancock picked up a shoulder injury during Monday night's televised match against the Ipswich Witches and will miss at least two of this weeks meetings.

He came down after he came together with Ipswich's Scott Nicholls after the first stoppage of the fifteenth heat. It was an awkward fall and although Hancock was quickly to his feet he did not take his place in the rerun.

Wagstaff wasted no time in drafting in a replacement for tonight's clash against the Hammers by bringing in Leigh Adams to ride at number one for them.

Australian Adams, who finished fourth in last season's Grand Prix series, is a former Hammer and this move by Oxford will undoubtedly add even more spice to what was already a very keenly anticipated match.

The A F Stocktaking Hammers enter tonight's meeting needing to win by two points, having gone down by just one point in the first leg at Oxford.

Amended line-up for tonight's Knockout Cup fixture:

Arena-Essex A F Stocktaking Hammers: 1. Dean Barker, 2. Ronni Pedersen, 3. Greg Walasek, 4. Josh Larsen, 5. Mark Loram, 6. Leigh Lanham, 7. Kelvin Tatum (Captain).

The Oxford Silver Machine: 1. Leigh Adams (Guest), 2. Travis McGowan, 3. Ryan Fisher, 4. Niels-Kristian Iversen, 5. Sebastian Ulamek, 6. Jonas Davidsson, 7. Rafal Dobrucki.
