Friday, June 4th, 2004 will go down in the history books as the night that Oxford Speedway recorded their biggest ever win in senior League competition since their first entry into League competition back in 1949.

This really was a masterly performance from a team who are totally at home on their own circuit and who were determined to avenge their defeat at Brandon last week when they were decimated by injury within the opening four races.

Oxford showed that they meant business with three consecutive maximum heat wins and they were to win twelve heats with maximum points before the night ended. In the end they dropped only four points all night, one point in each of heats four and nine and then two points in heat eleven, such was their dominance.

Greg Hancock and guest David Norris both raced to paid maximums but the night belonged to Travis McGowan who achieved his first EVER Elite League maximum, and it was hard fought as his battle with Andreas Jonsson in the final heat proved.

Oxford travel to Belle Vue on Monday and then Ipswich on Thursday as they continue their quest for Elite League honours.
