Sheffield chief Neil Machin believes his side are entering the biggest phase of their season with three massive meetings in four days - starting on Thursday.

Newcastle are the visitors to Owlerton in a mouth-watering Premier League clash, with the return in the North-East on Sunday night. Sandwiched in between is the Premier League Fours Championship at Workington on Saturday where Tigers will start as one of the fancied clubs.

And the Diamonds have been significantly strengthened prior to tonight's match as they have signed Tigers asset James Birkinshaw, who makes his debut against his parent club.

Machin said: "It's a big spell for us, we're looking for a bumper win at home to set us up nicely for the return at Newcastle on Sunday when we'll be going for an away win.
It won't be easy of course, particularly since the well-documented signing of James Birkinshaw in the Newcastle side, and it should be a night of great racing for the fans to enjoy."

A former legend of the sport, Nigel Boocock, who spent the majority of his racing career with Coventry, will be in attendance. Boocock retired in 1980 and now lives in Australia, but is back in the UK for a holiday and will be at the match with Graham Hartman.
