Paul Thorp, Sheffield's biggest enemy, makes his first Owlerton visit of the season with Workington on Thursday (7.45pm).

And Pirtek Tigers co-boss Neil Machin has sensationally revealed how Thorp, who is treated like a pantomime villan by Sheffield fans, almost joined the club in the winter!
Tigers need to win by more than five points in this Premier Trophy clash to keep their hopes of a semi-final place alive.

Machin said: ""I can confirm that we were seriously considering tracking Thorpy in our team and I know that would have caused quite a stir.

"If our team building had gone in a certain direction then we would have been offering him a Sheffield contract as he is now one of our assets.

"Workington are a good side and I rate them very highly, they have strength in almost every department and they are sure to make life tough for us, it should be a good match."
