The Academics picked up five Conference League points at Cowley last night in another superb night of racing for the youngsters. Buxton were easily seen off and the Academics had won the meeting by heat eleven.

There was talk that the Academics would equal their senior team mates feat and break the sixty points but Buxton's James Wright spoiled the party by winning heat fifteen. He also stopped fifteen year old Ben Barker collecting maximum points, as he had been in sparkling form all meeting but couldn't quite get the drop in the final heat.

Swindon were a tougher proposition and although the Academics built up quite a lead they were pegged back a couple of times but may have done enough to secure the bonus point when the Machine travel to Blunsdon. Joe Cook led the way in this meeting with a fine fifteen point haul and Chris Mills and the other fifteen year old sensation Chris Johnson both contributed with double figure returns.

The Oxford Silver Machine will know for definite if they have qualified for the end of season play off's by this time next week. The next home action is Friday, September 12th, 2003 when Belle Vue are the visitors for the final Elite League match of the season.
