Sean Wilson will be looking to make home advantage count when he takes his place in the eagerly-awaited Premier League Riders' Championship at Sheffield on Septembver 28. The event, which is expected to attract a bumper crowd, features the top rider from 16 Premier League clubs with Owlerton expert Wilson one of the favourites.

In the last two home meetings fgr the Pirtek Tigers Wilson is unbeaten in 12 outings and has won many of his races by a big margin. But he will be under pressure for the title from the likes of reigning champion Adam Shields who represents the Isle of Wight, Workington's Carl Stonehewer - a former Sheffield captain - and track expert Craig Watson from Newport.

Wilson said: "There is still a lot for Sheffield as a team to go for this season but obviously on a personal note I would love to go out and win the PLRC. It's great for me to have it back at Sheffield but I'm not taking anything for granted - it's a massive line-up and I know to win it you have to earn it!"
