KCMG is expected to pull out of the FIA World Endurance Championship in the LMP2 class after selling its Oreca 05 chassis.

The Hong Kong-based squad ended 2015 runners-up in the WEC LMP2 championship to G-Drive with the highlight of winning the Le Mans 24 Hours with Matt Howson and Richard Bradley, who were joined by Nicolas Lapierre for the prestigious endurance event.

Howson and Bradley also clinched victory at the 6 Hours of Nurburgring when Porsche factory driver Nick Tandy joined them in the cockpit in Germany, but narrowly missed out on the LMP2 world title despite claiming a total of six rostrum results - including its victories at Le Mans and Nurburgring - to G-Drive's Sam Bird, Julien Canal and Roman Rusinov.

In 2015 the team was also involved in a highly-controversial clash at Fuji with KCMG's Bradley and G-Drive's Gustavo Yacman which resulted in KCMG being handed a drive-through penalty that helped the sister G-Drive challenger to clinch top honours in LMP2.

It is believed KCMG is aiming to launch a defence of its Le Mans 24 Hour crown by competing at the Circuit de la Sarthe in 2016, with a view for a full-time comeback in 2017 when the new class regulations are implemented.

The team may still make a full participation in WEC this year in the GTE Am class as part of a collaboration with the Proton Competition squad who ran a pair of Porsche 919 RSRs in 2015.
