A bitter-sweet 2003 Bob Jane T-Marts for the OzEmail Racing Team, with both cars finishing inside the top ten but a certain fourth place ruined by an incident just a few laps from the finish.

Brad Jones and John Bowe battled in the lead group of cars all day which including a stint in the race lead. With Bowe at the wheel, the black OzEmail Falcon was sent flying into the Hell Corner sand trap by an over aggressive Steven Richards, with just nine laps remaining. The spin costing the team six positions.

"To finish tenth is a not a reflection of how good we were today. We've had two Holden drivers spin us around, which while it didn't cost us a race win, it's certainly cost us fourth or even a podium [finish]," said a bitterly disappointed Brad Jones.

"We've had a great campaign this year, our preparation has been absolutely perfect. The guys in the team have given us a front row start and a car good enough to lead the race, so even though we haven't been able to finish were we should, I'm very happy and proud of what we have achieved this week," Jones concluded

An exhausted John Bowe, who drove with pure class during his double stint at the end, shared Jones' frustration: "We should've finished at least fourth but the reality was we never had the car speed to win. I think it's more a disappointment for the team, who deserved a better result."

The highlight for the OzEmail Racing Team was the performance of the white Falcon, piloted by John Cleland and Andrew Jones. Running as high as fifth at one stage, the #888 OzEmail Falcon romped home to finish ninth.

"It was a good day but, maybe, could have been better. We had a sticking throttle for most of the race which cost us time, not to mention bloody scary. I love coming to this place [Bathurst] and to get a result makes it all the better."

Commenting on his co-driver, Cleland said further: "Andrew [Jones] was the perfect partner, there's no way that we would have got the result we did without his efforts."

In his first real attempt at the 'Great Race', Andrew Jones has showed maturity and skill well beyond his years, setting up the grand result with some very fast driving: "I'm really pleased with how things worked out. I managed to stay out of trouble and keep up with the lap times of the cars around me. For my first time, I'm chuffed to have finished inside the top ten."
