Stone Brothers Racing's Russell Ingall made it two from two when he won the second leg of the Gillette V8 Supercar Challenge in his Caltex Havoline Falcon on the streets of the Gold Coast today.

The result was the 23rd race win of Ingall's career and his 10th round win - his ninth coming at the Big Pond 300 at the Queensland Raceway earlier this year.

"I don't know what it was, but I qualified well here and I had a pretty good toy to play with," said Ingall. "I must have put on Marcos' undies back in the truck.

"I always seem to start the season pretty slack and come on strong at the end. If we can continue this roll we might give second place in the championship a shot.

"I have had a good run here at Indy and it was great to complete the job today for Caltex Havoline and all their guests.

"We will have something to celebrate tonight with a couple of cold VBs."

Ingall's SBR team-mate Marcos Ambrose meanwhile finished fourth today in his Pirtek Falcon despite dropping to seven cylinders on lap 10 of the 22-lap contest.

"Obvioulsy that was not the result we wanted, but it could have been a lot worse," reflected Ambrose. "It is extremely unusual for SBR to have a mechanical problem.

"The boys just told me to drive it until it stops so I just tried to get it home.

"I guess we had some bad luck today, but at the same time it was great it all held together. That's one more out of the way, now we have to make sure of strong results in New Zealand and in Sydney."
