World Supersport title contender Joan Lascorz could be forced to skip the remainder of the 2010 season after sustaining multiple injuries in an accident at Silverstone.

The Spaniard made contact with Eugene Laverty on the run up to Becketts, the pair clipping one another as they jostled for position. Lascorz would come down hard from the Kawasaki before being collected by the unsighted Roberto Tamburini.

A frightening looking accident - in which Lascorz got caught up in the two rider-less bikes and Tamburini barrelled into the barriers -, both were taken to the medical centre where they were confirmed as having sustained injuries.

Tamburini, who had started on the front row in only his second-ever WSS outing, was diagnosed with a broken collarbone, while Lascorz has four broken ribs, an injured shoulder, an injured finger and blood inside his lung.

Lascorz, who was second in the standings coming into the race, will remain in hospital for another week and it is uncertain how long he will be out of action, it is expected to be several weeks.
