The second 'Nicky Grist Golf Classic' is scheduled for the Marriott Forest of Arden Hotel & Country Club on Tuesday, 13th August in aid of the Leukaemia Research Fund, sponsored by Martini Racing and Waterford Crystal.

The event has already attracted a host of world rally personalities including Michael Park, Ford Rallye Sport Co-Driver, and Peugeot ace Gilles Panizzi. Other celebrities scheduled to join the day include ITV World Cup panellist and former Republic of Ireland captain, Andy Townsend, as well as former Manchester United and Aston Villa defender, Paul McGrath. Also attending from the world of TV will be Jamie Bamber of ITV's "Peak Practice", along with cast members of "London's Burning" and "Emmerdale".

From the world of international cricket, Nicky will be joined by England one-day specialist, Dermot Reeve, who will also host an auction of sporting items at the dinner in the evening. Items will include Tiger Woods memorabilia, a day's golf with Gary Lineker at Wentworth, as well as signed rally overalls and boots from World Rally Champions, Colin McRae and Carlos Sainz.

Having hosted his inaugural event in his homeland of Wales last year at The Celtic Manor Hotel & Resort, Nicky Grist is looking forward to this year's event once he completes the WRC assignment in Finland on 8-11 of August. Having won the Safari Rally only a few weeks ago, the Ford Rallye Sport pairing of the 'Flying Scot', Colin McRae and 'Welsh Wizard', Nicky Grist, are now second in the 2002 World Championship Drivers table, only sevens points behind Peugeot's Marcus Gronholm.

"This event is a great getaway from the World Rally Championship pressures for me and allows me to play golf, a sport I once played professionally," explained Ford Rallye Sport Co-Driver, Nicky Grist, "Having taken up rallying in the end, it is great to get out on a good course such as the Marriott Forest of Arden for a pro celebrity event like this. The support for the charity, the Leukaemia Research Fund, has also been great."

"This is the second year that Optimum Sports Marketing have run the event for me," continued Grist, "It was a great day last year and so we are looking forward to another excellent event this year for the Leukaemia Research Fund. We are very grateful to Martini Racing and Waterford Crystal for their help with this year's event."
