Petter Solberg has won the 2002 Rally of Great Britain after storming through the final competitive stage of the event [SS17] fastest of all to extent his rally winning lead to 24secs over second placed Markko Martin.

Not only does Solberg become the first Norwegian to win a World Rally round, but his hard fought Network Q victory puts him into second in the final WRC Drivers' points standings.

Behind Solberg and Martin, Carlos Sainz took a podium finish on what looks like being his Ford Swansong, with Makinen, McRae and Higgins completing the points finishers.

The official finish to the Network Q Rally of Great Britain - and the 2002 season - will take place at Cardiff Castle at 16.40 local time.
