Finland's Marcus Gronholm looks set to sign a new deal with Peugeot according to reports in the media.

Both BBC Sport Online and Ananova have published stories today, which predict that he will sign on for a least one more year with the French squad.

Gronholm commented: "I am very close to signing with Peugeot for another year but we will see.

"Right now my focus is on the first round of the championship."

Gronholm finished today [Friday]'s opening leg of the Rallye Automobile Monte Carlo third overall, the two time world rally champion leading until the final test, when having opted for the wrong tyres, he lost time, dropping him down the leaderboard, 18 seconds off Citroen's Sebastien Loeb.

Gronholm joined Peugeot in 1999, last season he finished sixth overall in the drivers' championship, adding three more wins to his tally, which currently stands at 15.

This season he will use the new 307 WRC.
