The organisers of the Wales Rally GB - International Motor Sports Ltd, have today confirmed the provisional entry list for next month's event.

The six manufacturer teams - Citroen, Ford, Mitsubishi, Peugeot, Skoda and Subaru - have entered 14 individual cars; 11 of them FIA priority one seeded drivers.

In total 87 competitors have been confirmed with 25 countries being represented.

Host nation, Wales, is particularly well featured with 27 of its residents participating - 14 drivers and 13 co-drivers. The highest-seeded Welshman is Phil Mills, the winning co-driver in 2002, 2003 and 2004 with Subaru ace, Petter Solberg.

This year's Cardiff-based rally has also attracted three of the top-five drivers in the Junior World Rally Championship, although it is not a qualifying round.

Junior WRC leader, Guy Wilks and third-placed Per-Gunner Andersson, will use the event to further develop the 1600cc Suzuki Swift which made its debut on the Rally Finland. Kris Meeke will also take part, graduating to a World Rally Car, he will be driving a Subaru Impreza WRC.

IMS also confirmed that overall ticket sales are currently 21 per cent up compared with this time last year. The go-anywhere World Rally Pass is proving most popular with fans with 70 per cent of the available tickets sold out.

"This year's Wales Rally GB promises to be one of the most exciting in the long history of this event," said IMS chief executive, Andrew Coe.

"Our policy from the outset has been to offer rally fans what they have been asking us for - more freedom to determine their rally viewing schedule. To this we have added a world-class programme of entertainment, all of which represents superb value for money. With highlights such as the Millennium Stadium and 'MacRae mania', we believe that Wales Rally GB will be the not-to-be-missed motorsport event of the year!"
