Francois Duval has secured a privateer Skoda Fabia WRC for the Rallye Monte Carlo - the opening round of the 2006 FIA World Rally Championship, which runs from January 20-22.

Duval will be entered by Belgian team, First Motorsport and according to the official entry list released by the organisers of the Rallye Monte Carlo he will again be partnered by Sven Smeets.

Duval's future though beyond Monte remains uncertain - and how many events he will end up contesting this year is currently unknown.

Last season, Duval had one of the most sought after drives in the WRC. However he got off to a poor start in the second factory run Citroen Xsara WRC and despite winning the final round of the 2005 season in Australia, the fact he was dropped mid-season, when Citroen boss, Guy Frequelin, drafted in Carlos Sainz for two events, seems to have hindered his attempts to secure a drive for 2006.

Duval had been linked to the new Red Bull Skoda team, however as they will compete under the 'Manufacturer 2' category, he is currently not eligible under the rules laid down by the FIA - the sports governing body.
