Luca Rossetti has confirmed that he is aiming to increase his programme this year following his victory on the opening round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge at the start of this month.

The Peugeot Italy driver, who eventually won the Istanbul Rally by 22.9 seconds, is concentrating on the Italian Rally Championship this season, however following his form in Turkey he now wants to take in some more IRC events.

Indeed his next appearance in the IRC is likely to be on the Ypres Rally in June, the third round in the championship, which incidentally he won last year.

"As always it comes down to budget, so I'm looking to see if we can do any deals," he explained.

"I'd love to do some more rounds of the IRC as there are many interesting rallies and we have already shown that we can be competitive. If we can get some backing in place, of course I'll be there as much as I can."

Asked about his victory again on round one, he was still buzzing about the result: "I would never have imagined that I would win the event before the start," he continued.

"I knew that I had a car that was capable of doing it, but although I like gravel driving, I really don't have so much experience of this surface [and it was only my fifth gravel rally].

"You definitely had to chose your pace and your trajectories carefully. I just tried to find a sensible compromise between speed and safety, and I think that worked well for us."
