2006 FIA Production Car World Rally champion Nasser Al-Attiyah took a resounding win on the Baja Espana last weekend.

Al-Attiyah, who is also competing in the P-WRC this year, put in a superb run over the tracks of the of the Zaragoza region, finishing ahead of Spain's Nani Roma, who was the only driver from the three-car Repsol Mitsubishi Ralliart line-up to reach the finish.

Al-Attiyah and his lady co-driver Tina Thorner dominated, winning practically all the 25th anniversary Baja Espana's stages in their BMW X3 CC equipped with BFGoodrich's new All-Terrain tyre.

"It was a perfect run for us," said Al-Attiyah, who is now top in the standings in the International Cup for Cross-Country Bajas following his earlier successes in Saudi Arabia and Italy.

"We had already claimed stage wins with the All-Terrain in muddy conditions during the Rali Transiberico, but it is even more competitive in the dry. I especially appreciated its predictability and performance under braking."

The result meanwhile was especially sweet for BFGoodrich as it is the companies' first win with the new All-Terrain tyre.

"Our objective was to get in as many competitive kilometres with the tyre as possible in order to gain experience before next year's Dakar," observed BFGoodrich technician Dominique Bravy.

"The result though exceeds our expectations thanks to Nasser Al-Attiyah's great win and Roma's fine second place. The first leg's stages were very rough, almost like Morocco, and several drivers collected punctures after hitting bit rocks. Even so, the day enabled us to show that the new All-Terrain tyre is both competitive and durable."

"BFGoodrich is the number one tyre manufacturer in rally-raids and we intend to keep it that way. The new All-Terrain is the way ahead for BFGoodrich. It also underlines the brand's ongoing commitment to the discipline," added Fr?d?ric Henry-Biabaud, BFGoodrich competition director.
