Citroen team leader Sebastien Loeb took his fourth win on the trot and his ninth of the season on the Rally RACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada on Sunday.

Loeb took control right from the off, topping the times in every single test on day 1 and on the opening three on day 2. In the end the four-time world champion went into the final leg with a 30-odd second cushion and that allowed him to pace himself to the finish and once again take the maximum ten points in Spain - as he did in 2007, 2006 and 2005.

Loeb now extends his lead over Mikko Hirvonen in the battle for the 2008 drivers' title to 12 points, while Citroen also increases its margin over Ford in the manufacturers' - up from 20 points to 27 - after Loeb and Dani Sordo finished 1-2.

Sordo was the only runner anywhere near Loeb at times and he played the perfect support role en-route to taking P2 in front of his home supporters, 24.9 seconds behind Loeb.

BP Ford Abu Dhabi's Mikko Hirvonen completed the podium after his team-mate Francois Duval eased off in the penultimate test to ensure the Finn took the extra point - something that could be crucial as he battles with Loeb for this year's drivers' crown.

Petter Solberg was fifth, followed by Jari-Matti Latvala, who got the better of Chris Atkinson and took P6 in the last three tests.

Andreas Mikkelsen rounded out the points' scorers in eighth, with Matthew Wilson ninth and Brice Tirabassi tenth. Wilson incidentally scored the final manufacturers' point.
