Citroen's Sebastien Loeb has taken the early lead in the 2009 World Rally drivers' championship following the opening round of the series, Rally Ireland.

Loeb scored 10 points following his win in Sligo, while Dani Sordo was second to take 8 and Mikko Hirvonen third to score 6.

In the Manufacturers' championship the Citroen Total WRT goes top and thanks to a maximum 18 point haul now lies 10 points up on both the BP Ford Abu Dhabi WRT and the Stobart VK M-Sport Ford RT.
