Valentino Rossi has reiterated that while he would love to switch to rallying someday, it is not something he intends to do for a 'few more years'.

The record-breaking, six-time MotoGP World champion participated in the Wales Rally GB at the end of last year, aboard a Stobart Ford Focus RS WRC 07 adorned by his traditional #46.

It was his third outing in the World Rally Championship and he improved from 45th position following Friday morning's opening stage to be setting consistently competitive times come the end of the rally.

He eventually finished 12th, to banish the demons of his embarrassing 2002 Rally GB exit, when he crashed out on the very first forest stage.

His performance earned him praise from his fellow drivers and observers, and whilst he said at the time that he would like to come back in 2009, his primary focus is very much on MotoGP.

"I have always loved rally, ever since I was little. It is one of my great passions and it is great to do one when I have the time and the chance," he said during an interview marking Fiat Yamaha's online team launch today.

"I always enjoy it a lot and probably, when I have given up the bikes and when I have the chance to improve and I have more time, I will do more.

"But it's not a close future, because I still want to race with the bike for a few more years!"
