Volkswagen has confirmed that it will continue its young driver assessment programme with an entry into Rally Germany.

As will be the case in Finland, VW Motorsport will enter a brace of Super 2000 Skoda Fabias into the event as the manufacturer continues preparations for its move into the WRC with the Polo R model in 2013.

Dutch driver Hans Weijs Jr - a front-runner in the JWRC last season - will be at the wheel of one car while the second car will be driven by German driver Christian Reidermann, who is currently competing in the new WRC Academy, where he sits in seventh place in the standings.

"The ADAC Rallye Deutschland marks the second step in our talent assessment programme," Volkswagen Motorsport Director Kris Nissen said. "As in Finland, we've again selected two young drivers who have already shown great potential in their brief careers.

"They are now receiving the unique opportunity to recommend themselves in the toughest competitive conditions for a slot in the Volkswagen rally team."

Andreas Mikkelsen and Joonas Lindroos will drive the two VW-entered Skodas in Finland.
