He may have clinched his eighth World Rally Championship crown in something of an anti-climax after crashing out of Wales Rally GB, but Sebastien Loeb wasn't down for long.

The French ace bounced back to claim the Monza Rally Show event, with wife Severine alongside him in place of regular co-driver Daniel Elena. The husband-and-wife team took Loeb's Citroen DS3 WRC to fastest time on six of the event's nine stages, eventually running out winners by a shade over 24 seconds over multiple MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi, who was partnered in a Ford Fiesta WRC by Carlo Cassina..

The Loebs also won the event-closing Rally Master competition, again beating Rossi and Cassina, who had earlier fended off the attentions of sportscar ace Rinaldo Capello, also driving a Citroen. WRC regular Dani Sordo was fifth overall in a privateer MINI John Cooper Works WRC.
