Khalid Al Qassimi has said he 'can't wait' for Rally Sweden next month and his first outing with the Abu Dhabi Citroen Total WRT.

Al Qassimi is due to do around eight WRC events this season, and while Sweden will be his first in the Citroen DS3 WRC car, joining up with Sebastien Loeb, Mikko Hirvonen and Dani Sordo, it won't be his first in Abu Dhabi Citroen World Rally Team colours, as he made his debut in those decals last weekend, taking in the opening round in the Middle East Rally Championship, the Qatar International Rally.

The UAE man did well too in his Citroen DS3 RRC, and was battling for the victory with Nasser Al-Attiyah until he picked up a puncture on the final day and lost around 30 seconds.

Despite that though, Al Qassimi still took the runners-up spot and he finished the event on a high, by winning the final stage.

"This is a very positive result for our first race in the Citro?n DS3 RRC," said Al Qassimi. "We were in the battle to win and the car worked perfectly well on these difficult and rough roads.

"It is also the first time I have had Scott Martin alongside me [as my co-driver]. His professional attitude helped me to stay relaxed during the race. This all augurs well for the rest of the championship and we'll be trying hard to reproduce our good form at the next event [in the MERC on March 21, the Kuwait Rally].

"Meanwhile, it'll be a whole different ball game in the Citro?n DS3 WRC and on the snow covered roads of Sweden. The conditions will be totally different but I really can't wait to race there!"
