Mads Ostberg says he is happy with his first taste of the Citroen DS3 WRC following a two-day test in France in preparation for the 2014 World Rally Championship season.

The Norwegian will form part of a new-look Citroen line-up next year having been named alongside Kris Meeke for 2014, with the French manufacturer having elected to replace both Mikko Hirvonen and Dani Sordo after a difficult 2013.

With Ostberg himself seeking to bounce back from a campaign with the Qatar M-Sport team that ultimately failed to deliver the wins he was hoping for, the 26-year-old said he was optimistic about the year ahead having climbed behind the wheel of the DS3 for the first time.

"First of all, it was a great honour to come to Citroen for the 2014 season," he said during a presentation in Versailles to launch Citroen's WRC and WTCC programmes. "Everything happened quite quickly and we have done out first test with the car in France. The feeling was amazing and I felt confident in it immediately. We had two good test days and started to get to know the team and the car.

"We need more time to get familiar with the DS3 and to get to know the people in the team more. We have to push early on in the season - Rally Sweden in one of the first events and is one of my favourites - and I think the team and myself have the same goal. We want to win rallies, which is the main ambition for the season."
