Juho Hanninen will make his competition debut with the Hyundai Shell World Rally Team on Rally Sweden next week.

The Finn, who was part of Hyundai's test line up last year, helped the squad prepare for the snow in Sweden last month by taking part in a five-day test in Rovaniemi, Finland, close to the Arctic Polar Circle, along with lead driver, Thierry Neuville.

The test was used to identify the correct set-up for the rally and to give the drivers the right level of confidence to drive the Hyundai i20 WRC on snow at high speed. Both drivers will now have an additional day of testing ahead of next week's event, round two of the 2014 FIA World Rally Championship.

"I'm very proud to have the chance to drive for the Hyundai Shell World Rally Team at Rally Sweden," said Hanninen, who took the ERC, SWRC and IRC titles in 2012, 2011 and 2010 respectively.

"I was already privileged to be the first behind the wheel of the Hyundai i20 WRC back in May 2013 but being in Sweden with the team will feel even more special.

"It will be my first event within a WRC factory team and, for sure, it will be a special moment that I will remember for a long time."

Hanninen has competed in Sweden four times to date and last year he took his best ever WRC result on the event when he finished in sixth. He knows though that the priority this time out will be to get to the finish.

"Rally Sweden is one of my favourite events. For a Finn, to drive on snow is almost a natural thing so of course we would like to get a good result but the main target for Tomi [Tuominen - my co-driver] and I will be to finish the event," he confirmed.

"We really want to get as much experience as possible for the team - which will be helpful for the rest of the year and for 2015 when we will put into practice what we learned during our first season in competition," summed-up the 32-year-old.
