Reigning WRC champion S?bastien Ogier has accepted a guest drive in the next round of the ADAC GT Masters sportscar series.

The Volkswagen works driver will line up at next weekend's Lausitzring double-header alongside ex-F1 and DTM driver Markus Winkelhock, sharing an Audi R8 LMS Ultra in the Super Sports Car League. The car will be prepared by Prosperia C Abt Racing, who are managed by former DTM driver and ADAC GT Masters champion Christian Abt.

The outing will not be Ogier's first venture onto the race track, as the Frenchman contested the Porsche Supercup event supporting last year's Monaco Grand Prix. However, this time around, the current WRC leader will swap his Volkswagen Polo R WRC - with approximately 315bhp - for an Audi that has well over 550bhp on tap.

"I always like a fresh challenge, so I'm quite looking forward to competing in the ADAC GT Masters and to my first race at the wheel of the Audi R8 LMS ultra," Ogier said, "I was a spectator at the ADAC GT Masters in Oschersleben and have an idea of what the series is all about.

"The field is top class with many formidable drivers. There's plenty of overtaking action on track, which we, of course, don't have in the world rally championship. My team-mate is fast and experienced, and I'm really looking forward to my weekend at the Lausitzring."

Ogier will not want for top line opposition either, with the likes of former F1 drivers Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Jaime Alguersuari, and ex-DTM drivers such as Rahel Frey and Maro Engel in the line-up.
