After his first season at the top level in 2014, Andrea Mikkelsen maintained his upward trajectory this year by clinching his first WRC win and very nearly overhauling Volkswagen team-mate Jari-Matti Latvala for the runners-up spot overall.

Mikkelsen began the year with third in Monte Carlo and in the end he only finished off the podium on only four occasions, when he was fourth in Australia and when he crashed out in Argentina, Sardinia and Finland.

Granted his maiden win in Spain - the penultimate event of the season - may have been fortuitous in the wake of Sebastien Ogier's late exit in the sister car, but it still served to underline his status as VW's rising star, and it also made up for his late error in Sweden, when he spun in the final test and dropped from first to third.

In your vote you gave him an average mark of 6.8 out of ten, leaving him fourth overall. Do you think that score is about right? Share your opinions simply by clicking on the 'Post your comments' link below.

About the vote:
Rather than repeat the Drivers' World Championship standings, the World Rally Driver of the Year poll asks readers to take into account factors such as machinery, performance relative to a team-mate, driving style, experience, injuries, progress and personality just as much as race results.

Over 3,000 votes were cast for the 2015 Crash.net WRC Driver of the Year poll, where viewers awarded each of this year's full-time participants a mark out of ten for an average rating.
