Elfyn Evans is on course for his maiden World Rally Championship victory having fortified his lead at Wales Rally GB thanks to five consecutive stage wins in front of his home fans.

The DMACK M-Sport Ford driver took control of the event with five straight stage wins on Saturday to pull out his lead to over 50 seconds as his fellow Ford drivers Ott Tanak and Sebastien Ogier struggled to replicate his pace.

This enabled Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville to jump to second place thanks to two stage wins on SS13 Dyfi 2 and SS14 Cholmondeley Castle to trim the Welsh driver's lead to 46.3s at two-thirds distance into the event.

Tanak held on to third place from team-mate Ogier while Andreas Mikkelsen remains in touching distance 8.3 seconds off of Ogier as he adapted to life with Hyundai.

Jari-Matti Latvala continued to head up the Toyota charge down in sixth place but ahead of Kris Meeke for Citroen. Hayden Paddon, Dani Sordo and Esapekka Lappi rounded out the top ten after Juho Hanninen was forced into retirement on SS14 with a broken wheel on his final outing for Toyota.
