The 23-year-old Glaner Honda rider led from start to finish, crossing the line with his hands in the air as he also took a 16-point advantage over Broc Parkes in the world championship standings.

After poleman Andrew Pitt had crashed out on lap 5, the battle for the runner-up slot between Yamaha World Supersport's Fabien Foret and Parkalgar Honda's Craig Jones captured most attention, with the Frenchman just getting the edge.

Foret's team-mate Parkes was fourth, with Hannspree Honda Althea Gianluca Nannelli holding off Jonathan Rea for fifth despite riding with an injured shoulder.

Previous world championship leader Josh Brookes retired with a tyre problem.
