Anthony West made his first appearance atop the World Supersport timesheets as rain returned to disrupt proceedings on the final day of testing at Portimao.

West, who his one of the more high-profile movers over the winter period following his switch from MotoGP, set a time of 2mins 02.373secs, two tenths quicker than Katsuaki Fujiwara on the Provec Kawasaki.

Superstock graduate Matej Smrz made his first appearance towards the front of the field on the Factory Racing Triumph in third, while reigning champion Andrew Pitt was fourth and this weekend's pace setter Joan Lascorz fifth.

In all, just 16 riders set a time, although they did include Eugene Laverty and Cal Crutchlow, who recorded the ninth and tenth best laps.
