Imola will host the annual mid-season World Superbike Championship test, it has been confirmed.

The circuit, which returns to the calendar in 2009 after an absence of more than two years, will welcome back the World Superbike and Supersport teams and riders for three days of testing between 15th/16th July. The Superstock riders will have a day of testing on 14th July.

Chosen so teams can acclimatise to the circuit's revised layout, the test comes more than two months before the field heads there for the 12th round of the season on 27th September.

Last year's mid-season test was hosted by Vallelunga, the circuit Imola has replaced on this year's calendar.
