Despite their strength in numbers, Kawasaki's two privateer teams couldn't record the points their factory backed cousins missed out on in Australia after tough weekend for Pedercini and PSG-1.

With the works team just missing out on points in both races, Pedercini and PSG-1, who are both fielding brand new line-ups in 2009, had hoped to capitalize but could only manage a single top twenty finish between them.

Of the two teams, Pedercini came out best, with Luca Scassa managing a pair of top twenty finishes on his full-time debut in the category.

"I'm pretty happy about my today races also because in the second one I improved my race pace and my best lap time and I obtained the twentieth position. The team improved the bike massively every time I came in and it means that we are working in the right direction: We need only some more time and test to be more competitive.

"I like my new team and I have a good feeling with all of them. I think we have only to continue to work hard to be able to reach in future some good results."

Competing in their first race as a newly privatised team having split from Kawasaki as a manufacturer backed entity, PSG-1 had a dismal weekend after travelling to Australia having barely tested the bike.

Their hopes were further harmed when Ayrton Badovini suffered a crash in free practice that ruled him out of the remainder of the event.

"I really wanted to participate to today's races but unfortunately my foot has been compromised by yesterday's crash and we decided not to take the risk to compromise next round by competing today. It's a pity because my week end stopped just when I started to make improvements."

Instead, Matteo Baiocco carried their hopes, but finished just one race with a best result of 24th.

"We are not scared about these first results as this round was a test for us and we collected lots of important information during this week end which is a step forward to face next round which will be in Qatar. We still have lots of work to do and I think we'll be able to make the first good results for Valencia round."
