Max Neukirchner is keen to continue his strong start to the 2009 World Superbike Championship with another run to the podium at Losail, Qatar.

The German rider defied a lowly 14th position on the grid to very nearly win the first round of the year at Phillip Island, but while he would eventually have to settle for second and sixth at the end of the weekend, it is still good enough for an early second in the standings.

Praising the Suzuki Alstare Brux team for the effort they have put into developing the new GSX-R1000, it is a result that Neukirchner now wants to repeat when the championship heads to the Middle East for the next round in Qatar.

Scoring a top five finish there on his full-time debut for the team in 2008, Neukirchner is confident he can reach his objectives.

"It was good to start the year with a podium and now I am looking forward to more podiums. The 2009 K9 is a very good bike and my team have worked hard over the winter and the bike is very competitive. Of course, because the bike is new, I think that there is still more to come from the K9 and it will get better and better and hopefully the results will be good also."
