Michel Fabrizio is targeting podiums in the eight remaining World Superbike Championship races, starting with the Nurburgring, as he bids to keep his slim title hopes alive.

A retirement last time out at Brno, his first since the second round of the season in Qatar, has seen Fabrizio fall 53 points adrift of Ducati Xerox team-mate and championship leader Noriyuki Haga.

It means Fabrizio cannot afford to drop further points for the remainder of the season, the Italian subsequently targeting an immediate return to the rostrum at the Nurburgring.

"Brno didn't go to plan and so in the last four races, starting at N?rburgring, I really need to make up points, with the aim to be on the podium every weekend," said Fabrizio, who has already achieved the same feat on twelve occasions this season.

Keeping busy with a surprise MotoGP outing for Pramac Ducati at Brno last month, Fabrizio's venture lasted only a few laps before he was forced to withdraw through injury. Despite this, the Italian maintains that he is ready to race again.

"I'm in good shape and after the long break I'm more than ready to get back on the bike and try to maintain my recent run of podiums."
