Performance Technical Racing has concluded its line-up for the 2011 World Supersport Championship season with the signing of Romanian racer Robert Muresan.

The British-based team, which has finished runner-up for the last two seasons with Eugene Laverty, will be split into two divisions, with Sam Lowes and Miguel Praia riding under the Parkalgar Honda banner, while James Ellison and Muresan will compete as PTR riders.

Muresan's acquisition comes after an agreement to take PTR to Romania, a move that will see the team set up a base in the country and be known as 'PTR Romania'. The team claims the decision will see several Romanian brands join forces with PTR in 2011 and provide the funding it needs to expand its team.

"Romania does not have any team or rider competing at the top of the World Championships. Our aim is to change that," Simon Buckmaster said.

"We are setting up PTR Romania to cater to the performance motorcycle market and bring our class leading tuning service to the country. We have identified a young talented rider from Romania to take to World Championship success, his name is Robert Muresan.

"It is critical for us to expand into Romania and that means nurturing a local racer to the very top, something we have a proud record of achieving.

"We are working with Romanian business and partners to develop this project and are looking forward to putting Romania on the map of World Championship motorcycle racing."

Muresan has some experience of racing in the World Supersport Championship, riding an MS Racing Triumph in seven races during the 2009 season, while he has also competed at 125GP level.
