Sylvain Guintoli has not sustained serious injury from his accident during the opening round of the World Superbike Championship at Phillip Island.

The Frenchman had been one of the star performers leading up to the races after qualifying in third position, but a terrible start in race one dropped him to the back of the pack by the end of the opening lap.

A determined charge up the order saw him back in the top ten after just five laps, but a mistake at the final bend would see him crash out at high-speed.

Hurting his hand, knee and shoulder blade, though a trip to hospital forced Guintoli to miss race two, his Effenbert-Liberty Ducati team have confirmed he has broken no bones.

The former Suzuki rider - who finished every race of the 2010 season - now has a month to recuperate before the second round at Donington Park.
