Riccardo Russo will step up to the World Superbike Championship for round seven of the 2014 season after being called on to substitute the injured Luca Scassa at Pedercini Kawasaki.

The Italian began his second season of World Supersport racing with Lorini Honda this year, but while he has been a regular scorer on the Honda CBR600RR his best result remains a modest eighth, while he is currently behind less experienced team-mate Marco Bussolotti overall.

As such, Russo has taken the opportunity to jump up to Superbike machinery on the EVO-specification Pedercini ZX-10R ahead of his home Misano round in place of Scassa, who is still out injured after crashing during MotoGP testing in May.

Frenchman Romain Lanusse had deputised for Scassa at Donington Park and Sepang, but he has now returned to Superstock 1000 duties with the Pedercini team.
